The fashion industry has been accused of promoting “manorexia” after an array of shockingly thin male models were sent down the catwalk at Paris Fashion Week. Designer YSL was criticised on the blogosphere for “woefully irresponsible model casting” as a photo of an emaciated model prompted a barrage of responses on social media. Many criticised the designer’s use of the super-skinny model, saying it could encourage male anorexia and irresponsibly promoted an unhealthy body image, but some disturbing ‘pro-ana’ responders […]

Take a look at these beauties, what an exciting find. They are from Hatmaker by Australian milliner Jonathan Howard, who apparently is the only milliner to have ever won ‘Best Australian Fashion Accessory Designer’ at the ‘Prix De Marie Claire’ awards. The hatters are moving up in the world, and with beauty like this it’s hardly surprising! I for one can’t wait to see more from this label. source ismellahat.com

Add Rebecca S. to the impressive list of Seafolly’s swimwear-clad ambassadors, which have in the past included Miranda Kerr, Catherine McNeil, Samantha Harris and Jessica Hart. At 5’11”, the model newcomer was discovered in a local shopping mall in Newcastle. Rebecca models the 2013 range of Seafolly, featuring a range of vintage florals backed by neon colours as well as nautical styles in classic navy and white stripes. “Seafolly has achieved impressive success on a global scale but always stays […]

Australians do good swimwear. In fact, between international all-stars Zimmermann, cult favourites We Are Handsome, accessible darlings like Seafolly, classics like Speedos, the half-dozen megabuck surf wear brands, all the other players known for everything from killer cuts (hi Seventh Wonderland) to impeccable styling (looking at you, Anna and Boy) to itsy bits teeny weediness (Cozi), it’s safe to say that swimwear is actually the most developed element of australian fashion market. Diving into this already healthy pool is Miskini, […]

Best news ever: After taking a break from the pressures of modeling to pursue her acting career—she’s starring in The Great Gatsby, which doesn’t come out until May—Gemma Ward is making her way back to the catwalk. We’re kind of excited to see one of our favorite models on the big screen, but it’s also comforting to know that she’ll be back where she belongs: in ad campaigns, editorials, and on the runway. Gemma—you’ve been missed. source nylonmag.com

Let the spring/summer 2013 campaign games begin! Marc Jacobs was one of the first designers to make a move, releasing his namesake label’s advertisement last month. And today – his other label – Louis Vuitton’s creations have been unveiled. Starring a twin-esque ensemble cast that includes Australian-raised model-of-the-moment Ruby Jean Wilson (second from the right, who also happened to star in the Marc Jacobs S/S 13 campaign), the visuals feature the structured, graphic, two-toned fashions, hot off the runway. Artist Daniel Buren – the mastermind behind the yellow checkerboard […]
