Elvira ‘T Hart – 3D Garments

February 21, 2013 by The CoF

Elvira ‘T Hart ,a recent fashion graduate whose latest collection puts 2D sketches to 3D garments. Elvira ‘T Hart on her creations: “A lot of details contained within the first sketches are lost during the process of designing and executing clothing. By literally creating clothing patterns from the lines of sketches or sketching the patterns of clothing and cutting this out by laser, new shapes or suggestions of shapes are created. The actress, who has been the face of the label for the past three seasons, has designed a capsule range for high summer 2013. Heather Huey – A Modern-Day Milliner

January 23, 2013 by The CoF

For many, hats are a utilitarian necessity, something pulled reluctantly out of the closet with the first frost. For others, hats are living creations, the frame under which an entire outfit is composed. It is for these people that Heather Huey designs. A self-described hermit and helpless-romantic, Heather Huey is a modern-day milliner who has swooped into the fashion world and bewitched its inhabitants. After receiving a degree in architecture, Heather fell in love with millinery and began designing pieces […]

Shoes… By Kobi Levi

January 23, 2013 by The CoF

Israel footwear designer Kobi Levi courageously blends the boundaries between fashion and art while creating every pair of shoes. Each pair is a complete sculpture. He invented a “bilateral” boots, flip-flops from the peel of bananas, sandals-slingshot and shoes-dog. If you’ll decide to wear such shoes you’ll not be unnoticed! It’s a truly amazing shoes! source beautuifullife.com

Alexandre Vauthier Spring Couture 2013 Collection

January 23, 2013 by The CoF

The show opened with an elegant and tasteful lineup of clean-cut tuxedos and lightly draped satin catsuits, which had sleek glamour written all over them. After a short interlude of skimpy yet intriguing mink tops with bare backs on straight-cut trousers, Alexandre Vauthier lost restraint. The languid evening gowns and cut-out minidresses — exposing what not even robust stadium and biker leather jackets could conceal — were neither functional nor worthy of a lady, and caused some queasiness among the […]

Ulyana Sergeenko Spring Couture 2013 Collection

January 22, 2013 by The CoF

A giant book of fairy tales was propped open at the end of Ulyana Sergeenko’s Yellow Brick Road-like runway, and the well-worn original tome, featuring illustrations by Yuri Vasnetsov, circulated the front row. Inside its weathered pages, alligators opened their jaws to spilling breadbaskets and mice crawled gleefully over a caged cat. The Russian designer’s second couture show recounted equally strange stories while brimming with charm and, occasionally, a sense of wonderment. A soundtrack of spaghetti Westerns, snippets of “Rocky” […]

Saint Laurent Men’s Collection Fall 2013

January 21, 2013 by The CoF

Hedi Slimane at full Hedi Slimane-ness, Saint Laurent was everything you’d guess it to be. Skinny goes without saying, as does gaunt Rock n’ Roll boys. Add to the pile touches of grunge with plaid shirts, show off beaded jackets, military as worn by Pete & Co. and a rather nice baseball jacket offering a slight change to proceedings. Disheveled glamour for (anaemic) young folk and plenty of androgyny to keep you guessing. It looks like  Isabel Marant meets Balmain to me! […]

World’s First Pure Gold Shirt Worth $22,500

January 16, 2013 by The CoF

India’s very own Midas, Datta Phuge, in a rather misguided attempt at impressing the ladies, has commissioned a shirt made entirely of gold. The shirt took 15 goldsmiths a total of two weeks to construct, and comes complete with matching cuffs, a belt and a set of rings. The goldsmiths worked 16 hours a day on this gaudy creation that cost a total of $22,400. Phuge, aged 32 said, “I know I am not the best looking man in the world […]

Numero Tokyo : Tribe Editorial

January 16, 2013 by The CoF

The Numero Tokyo December 2012 Toni’s Tribe editorial shines light upon an eccentric warlike style of dress. Stylist Katie Mossman accentuated model Toni Garrn’s features through heavy furs, light feathers and aggressive headpieces, playing up on many of this winters in-vogue motifs. Photographer Nino Munoz captured Garrn within these opulent outfits. Black and white lenses teased out the sheer dimension of the pieces which seemed to pop out in each shot. Costume National Homme Fall 2013 Collection

January 12, 2013 by The CoF

Two key pant styles — a relaxed jogger-inspired design, and a drop-crotch ankle-length trouser — were paired with very masculine maxi coats and wool jackets with leather panels. One stiff and shiny bomber jacket had flashes of deep, electric blue, lighting up the mostly black lineup. Ennio Capasa is a master in layering, and he’s definitely perfected the biker jacket. I am a fan!

J.W. Anderson Fall/Winter 2013 Men Collection

January 10, 2013 by The CoF

J.W. Anderson’s sexually ambiguous fall 2013 men’s collection featured a succession of steely-faced men in knee-high frilled leather boots, ruffled neoprene shorts, tube tops and, in one case, a full-blown industrial-wool dress (our first thought was that it looked vaguely like a Victoria Beckham design). And despite the triple-takes, the whole shebang was actually pretty damn smart—and unarguably very Anderson. The Northern Irish designer had a banner 2012, with an appointment to the helm of Versace’s Versus line, following Christopher Kane’s exit, as well as a successful […]

Versace Pre-Fall 2013

January 6, 2013 by The CoF

Photo by Andrea Delbò Striking a mood between baroque and rock, Donatella Versace named her pre-fall collection “Barock.” She played with the house’s iconic emblems to enrich the daywear-focused lineup, putting the shoulders — strong, but never too exaggerated — in the limelight and keeping pants slim. The clean pieces were embellished with opulent decorations, such as baroque embroideries made with flattened gold thread on denim pants, jackets and tops. Leopard patterns also were prominent and came printed on a […]

The Top Fashion Trends of 2012

December 27, 2012 by The CoF

It’s never quite clear what causes something to make the successful transformation from runway look to ubiquitous item in stores and in closets. This year, it was a particular playful time for women’s style: Futuristic ensembles were a modern and welcome addition to any wardrobe, sweet pastel hues became the unexpected color choice on the red carpet, and an extra sparkle in embellished or baroque touches was spotted on everything from collars to bags. As the year ends, we look […]

Alexander Wang Pre-Fall 2013

December 7, 2012 by The CoF

After the precision and linear quality of his spring collection, Alexander Wang was in the mood for something softer for pre-fall. “We were playing with this idea of blurriness and ambiguity,” he said. “I love the idea of intertwining and not knowing where a dress ends and a jacket begins.” He blurred the lines with great scarf dresses, slim with a loosely draped line, some in suede or sueded jersey. They were done in a mostly colorless palette of black, […]

The 2013 Campari Calendar Kisses Superstitions Goodbye

December 6, 2012 by The CoF

By Meghan Young Actress Penelope Cruz tests her luck in the 2013 Campari Calendar. Aptly titled, ‘Kiss Superstition Goodbye,’ it finds the Spanish beauty surrounded by taboo elements including a glaring of black cats, opened umbrellas indoors and dangerously cracked mirrors. Of course, she shows confidently that these are all unfounded fears perpetuated by superstitious societies. Helping her to bravely confront these fears is the Italian alcohol beverage, which is Cruz’s constant companion in the 2013 Campari Calendar. Shot by […]

Street Style:India

November 23, 2012 by The CoF

Clothing in India varies from region to region depending on the ethnicity, geography, climate and cultural traditions of the people of that region. Historically, men and women’s clothing has evolved from simple Langotas and loincloths to cover the body to elaborate costumes not only used in daily wear but also on festive occasions as well as rituals and dance performances. In urban areas, western clothing is common and uniformly worn by people of all strata. India also has a great diversity in terms of weaves, fibers, colors and material […]
