Raf Simons’ mid-century Modernist two-story, open-floor-plan apartment in Antwerp has become his sanctuary. Simons’ opened his door to WSJ and we can have a peak of his wonderful art and furniture collection.
In addition to a Pierre Jeanneret sofa and chairs and Mike Kelley framed flags, the living room has a Noguchi coffee table and George Nakashimi bench.
“IF RAF SIMONS WEREN’T AN INFLUENTIAL FASHION DESIGNER AND HIS OWN EPONYMOUS LINE, HE’D LIKE TO BE A CERAMICIST. “THERE’S SOMETHING SO ROMANTIC ABOUT IT,” HE SAYS. “I THINK ABOUT THE SOUTH OF FRANCE, THE NATURE OF CLAY, WORKING WITH YOUR HANDS.”
“I FIND IT RELAXING TO BE IN TOUCH WITH CREATIONS BY OTHER PEOPLE,”
The interior show perfectly his fashion designs! Mostly men ones! 🙂
what a beautiful house. I particularly like that lovely. somewhat Miesian, wood paneled rooms with the low chairs and the fireplace inset nto the walls. But then I am a sucker for early modernism, & anything Mies-like. Oh, and for wood panled walls. Gorgeous. Nice blog, (& many thanks for following mine btw) i shall be back for more. 🙂
