KATE HUDSON has made her design debut, creating a clothing collection for the first time – in collaboration with US label Ann Taylor. The actress, who has been the face of the label for the past three seasons, has designed a capsule range for high summer 2013.
Hudson worked closely with creative director Lisa Axelson on the range, which is inspired by her own red carpet style – but with a wearable, everyday twist. While little else has been revealed about the project, the first pieces will land in Ann Taylor stores in May.
“Working with Ann Taylor has been a great creative experience and there is a really wonderful connection,” Hudson told WWD. “Ann Taylor is great at creating iconic wardrobe staples and updating them season after season. I love that Lisa Axelson is designing clothes for real women.”
It’s also reported that the actress will join Ann Inc.’s ANNpower Vital Voices Initiative – a partnership between the parent company of Ann Taylor and the program aimed at unleashing leadership potential in young girls all over the world. Initiative members – such as Hudson – act as mentors to the girls and help to choose grant recipients.
