Parsons has published the photographs of the collections of the candidates for the title of “Designer of the Year.” Some of the candidates are also nominated for the competition, organized by Kering “Support for the imagination” (Empowering Imagination). The winners will get the opportunity to pass a two-month internship at one of the brands of the conglomerate, as well as displaying their collection in the windows at Barneys New York.
It is worth noting that the candidates for the title of “Designer of the Year” this year have an interesting past experience regarding fashion. For example, the 28-year-old Joseph Singh before getting to fashion, studied biology, then marketing and analytics, and only then, looking at the Spice Girls, realized that his calling it’s not an exact science, but creativity transcribed by fabric.
The other two nominees began their careers in the fashion industry with internships at Proenza Schouler. Rene Lariviere and Jasmine Plantin say that for them it was an invaluable experience and a great starting place.
