At the Brooklyn Museum opens the first international retrospective of Jean-Paul Gaultier, which will be held from October 25 to February 23. After New York this multimedia exhibition “Jean-Paul Gaultier: from the sidewalk to the podium” will travel to London, Paris and Melbourne.
There are exhibited more than 140 haute couture dresses and pret-a-porter collections of Jean-Paul Gaultier from different collections that are presented on custom mannequins with interactive faces created by high-definition audiovisual projections.
In addition to the clothes on display include accessories, sketches, stage costumes, excerpts from films, as well as the documentation shows, concerts and dance performances.
The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk is organized by the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, in collaboration with Maison Jean Paul Gaultier, Paris. The exhibition is curated by Thierry-Maxime Loriot of the MMFA. The Brooklyn presentation is coordinated by Lisa Small, Curator of Exhibitions, Brooklyn Museum.
