Great representatives of art,fashion,music and not only gathered last evening at Carnegie Hall for the 23rd annual awards ceremony of the American edition of Glamour magazine.
Editor in chief Cynthia Leive has previously announced that one of the prizes will go to the 16-year-old Pakistani , Malala Yousafzai, , a human rights activist nominated for Nobel prize . But who the other recipients of the prestigious award remained a mystery until last night .
Awards for Woman of the Year Lifetime Achievement winner was actress and singer Barbra Streisand . In addition, the award Woman of the Year for charitable initiatives went to supermodels Liya Kebede and Christy Turlington , the wife of Bill Gates , businessman and philanthropist Melinda Gates , the costume designer , winner of an Oscar and the BAFTA ,Catherine Martin , chairman and founder of the online boutique Net-a-Porter Natalie Massenet , actress Kerry Washington , former Congresswoman, Gabrielle Giffords , survivor of an assassination attempt in 2011 , and singer Lady Gaga, who will grace the cover of the December issue entitled ‘Women of the Year’ said : “Every woman here deserves to be on the cover, but if I could forfeit my Glamour cover, it would be to Malala.”
