Animalvegetablemineral by Victoire de Castellane at Gagosian Gallery in London

From January 28 at the Gagosian Gallery in London opens an exhibition dedicated to the work of Dior’s haute joaillerie designer,Victoire de Castellane entitled Animalvegetablemineral

The exhibition of jewelry sculptures of Victoire de Castellane “Animalvegetablemineral” ( working title of the exhibition ) is a game of emotions and images (starting from the name, which, in fact, is simply a play on words, and ending with the mixing of images of flora and fauna, which inspired the designer)  . The basic material with which  Victoire de Castellane worked when creating the collection is the raw material of the precious stones.

Each sculpture will be placed under a small glass dome ,“as they would in a natural history museum,” she explains .

My jewels are propositions. From the outset, this involves making an object that constructs itself out of many different things, and that sometimes ends up surpassing even what I had imagined for it. It is no longer primarily an accessory; it becomes something larger. It speaks about concept and form as opposed to objective value. It becomes sculpture.—Victoire de Castellane
