Suzy Menkes arrives at Condé Nast International (CNI) as a critic and reporter of all the international Vogue web sites. After 25 years as fashion editor at the Paris-based International New York Times — formerly the International Herald Tribune the famous fashion critic , Suzy Menkes lands in the CNI offices in London , from where she will handle her new position as International Vogue Editor.
The news was announced today by Jonathan Newhouse, chairman and chief executive of Condé Nast International. “Suzy Menkes is a unique talent, with superb judgement about fashion and keen insight into the business behind it. She is hugely influential and respected. Her contribution will bring even greater quality and authority to the Vogue brand,” said Newhouse.
“I think it’s the most wonderful opportunity,” Menkes told WWD at the Stella McCartney show. “Change is good, it’s what fashion is all about.”
“I am very excited to become International Vogue Editor of Condé Nast International , which represents the excellence of journalism , and to have the opportunity to write for an audience much wider through the sites of Vogue ,” says the journalist . “I’m glad I spent 25 years at the International Herald Tribune. Now , in the digital age , I feel that the time has come to embark on a new challenge.”
Condé Nast International has 19 sites dedicated to Vogue around the world,including in the U.K., France, Italy, China, Russia, Japan, Germany and Spain.
