This morning fashion designer L’Wren Scott was found dead  by her assistant around 10am in her apartment in Manhattan,New York, according to police. She was found hanging from a scarf according to reuters.com

According to police Scott had texted around 8.30 this morning to her assistant to come by her apartment.

 Detective Marc Nell, a spokesperson for the NYPD, has confirmed that the person discovered was L’Wren Scott. An anonymous law enforcement official told the Associated Press that she was discovered “hanging from a doorknob,” which Nell says is still unconfirmed.

The Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause of death of the 49-years-old L’Wren Scott , according to New York Daily News.”Given the timing, that individual will probably be examined tomorrow and if everything is straight forward, the cause and manner of death would be available by tomorrow,” Julie Bolcer, of the city’s Office of the Chief Medical Examiner said.

A spokesperson for Mick Jagger said he was “completely shocked and devastated” by the news. He was dating the designer since 2001.

The dark-haired beauty was born in Utah, starting her fashion career as a model in Paris but she always seemed to be more interested in designing clothes than modeling them. Shortly after she moved to Los Angeles where she worked as a stylist before launching her own collection in 2006.

Last month she canceled her fashion show during London Fashion Week and was taking private appointments instead WWD reported that she blamed “production delays in key show and couture pieces.”.

A fashion sourced declared that the real reason would be the fact that “L’Wren’s business just crashed.” While another added: “I knew something was wrong when L’Wren canceled her London Fashion Week show. That would have been so important to her. She was very prolific on Instagram and recently had gone quiet and hadn’t been posting so much.”

A third source added: “Everybody who knows L’Wren and Mick are totally and completely shocked.”

“Neither of them drink and do drugs, and they were always really affectionate with each other. There were no signs of problems in their relationship,” the source said.”
