“I love the Fifties couture. For me, it was the most perfect in cut and construction,” said Donatella Versace backstage at the Atelier Versace Fall 2014 fashion show yesterday during Haute Couture Fashion Week Fall 2014.
But the 50’s had nothing to do with this collection, and Versace generally. Instead it was all about cutting and deconstruction in a very sartorial way : perfect-fit corseted silhouettes, ample asymmetry which let a lot of skin to be seen,a column dress with a single trouser leg adorned with Versace’s famous metal buckles , fringes and embroideries that composed the haute couture fall 2014 collection of the italian fashion house.
A collection for a young girl with a reckless style, like our days pop singers or Madonna , but not what the haute couture clientele is looking for…
