Jean Paul Gaultier Spring Couture 2013 Collection

January 23, 2013 by The CoF

COUTURE season seems to be the perfect time to find inspiration when it comes to planning this summer’s holidays – Giorgio Armani took us to Turkey yesterday and this afternoon Jean Paul Gaultier went to Morocco. It was a rich and varied collection with each and every exit completely different to the one before it – so bulbous stripes led the way on dresses of asymmetric or off-the-shoulder style, followed by super-cinched tulle gowns heavily held at the waist by big gold belts, […]

Hatmaker By Australian Milliner Jonathan Howard

January 23, 2013 by The CoF

Take a look at these beauties, what an exciting find. They are from Hatmaker by Australian milliner Jonathan Howard, who apparently is the only milliner to have ever won ‘Best Australian Fashion Accessory Designer’ at the ‘Prix De Marie Claire’ awards. The hatters are moving up in the world, and with beauty like this it’s hardly surprising! I for one can’t wait to see more from this label. source ismellahat.com

Serkan Cura Spring Haute Couture 2013 Collection

January 22, 2013 by The CoF

This “Birds of Eden” collection was another love letter from Turkish-born Serkan Cura to the noble craft of feather-making. There were a variety of flamboyant shoulder pieces on top of skimpy corset dresses in see-through fabrics. An XXL flower hairpiece descending all the way down to the sleeves was even more sculptural, while delicately woven feather blazers had a contemporary feel. Among the finale numbers was a creamy feather tutu worthy of a 21st-century production of “Swan Lake.” Photo by […]

Front Row at Chanel Haute Couture Spring 2013

January 22, 2013 by The CoF

A misty pall hung over the Grand Palais in Paris, where Chanel recreated a full-scale pine forest for its couture show on Tuesday. “Oh my gosh – it’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen. It’s so surreal, it’s amazing,” marveled Hailee Steinfeld, who was among the front-row guests. The teen star has been shooting in Paris on the tentatively titled “Three Days to Kill” opposite Kevin Costner, who plays her father. “He’s the coolest,” she said. Later this year, […]

The founder and creative director spoke out about the collaboration saying “Creating new shoes with Iris is a greater challenge each time. Saint Laurent Men’s Collection Fall 2013

January 21, 2013 by The CoF

Hedi Slimane at full Hedi Slimane-ness, Saint Laurent was everything you’d guess it to be. Skinny goes without saying, as does gaunt Rock n’ Roll boys. Add to the pile touches of grunge with plaid shirts, show off beaded jackets, military as worn by Pete & Co. and a rather nice baseball jacket offering a slight change to proceedings. Disheveled glamour for (anaemic) young folk and plenty of androgyny to keep you guessing. It looks like  Isabel Marant meets Balmain to me! […]

An Interview With Eric Kee, Photoshop Expert

January 13, 2013 by The CoF

Eric Kee, a PhD candidate in computer science at Dartmouth, has helped to develop a revolutionary software tool that measures how much fashion and beauty images have been altered. In light of recent efforts by lawmakers to regulate the digital manipulation of photographs, I interviewed Kee about the new software, how it might be applied, and how this could give models more control over their images — and their work. Sara Ziff: So I read that you’re proposing a software […]

HENTSCH MEN AND HOT CHOCOLATES  At Hentsch Man it was the models, not the clothes that made an initial impact. Quirky and diverse, the select trio (ticking all the ‘quirky’ boxes with piercings, tattooed eyelids and facial hair) made an immediate statement. The choco-mallow brew we were then handed was as a PR masterstroke: juggling the steaming cups, the brandishing of iPhones had to wait as we were forced to digest the self-consciously individual personality of this label.
