M2Malletier’s Handbags Debut Collection

January 22, 2013 by The CoF

Medieval medical instruments and Spanish architecture may seem unlikely bedfellows, but these were precisely the inspirations behind M2Malletier’s debut collection of geometric calfskin handbags. Having launched in September, the Barcelona-based brand was founded by Colombian designers Melissa Losada, 28, and Marcela Velez, 26, who first met while studying at Parsons in New York. “We wanted to do something different and create bags that were also mini sculptures,” says Losada of the duo’s decision to collaborate on a line. Citing their […]

Desire Obtain Cherish – Designers Drugs

January 18, 2013 by The CoF

LA-based artist Desire Obtain Cherish emergence as a street artist in the 2000s, DOC has blended the concerns and methods of street, pop, conceptual and appropriation art with popular culture to create his own unique satirical message. His work, though often controversial, is always engaging, and explores contemporary obsessions with sex, desire, drugs, gender, celebrity, media, commerce and fame. My favorite is the ‘Designers Drugs’ series made on UV Cast Resin (42 x 27), I wish he did more.   source trendland.com

An Interview With Eric Kee, Photoshop Expert

January 13, 2013 by The CoF

Eric Kee, a PhD candidate in computer science at Dartmouth, has helped to develop a revolutionary software tool that measures how much fashion and beauty images have been altered. In light of recent efforts by lawmakers to regulate the digital manipulation of photographs, I interviewed Kee about the new software, how it might be applied, and how this could give models more control over their images — and their work. Sara Ziff: So I read that you’re proposing a software […]

Melvin Sokolsky (born in 1938) is an American photographer and film director. Citizen Of Fashion:Claude Montana

November 25, 2012 by The CoF

Text by Janelle Looking back on the season that was and some of the runway proportion plays, we started to think back to the larger than life silhouettes of the 1980s. Back when a shoulder pad was de rigueur you couldn’t open up a fashion magazine without seeing the incredible designs of Claude Montana. Focusing on exquisite construction, luxurious materials and of course shape, Montana’s eponymous label flourished from 1979 until 1997, and for two years in the early nineties he even […]

Fashion Enterprise to Combat Slavery

November 23, 2012 by The CoF
