Last Friday W’s magazine editor Stefano Tonchi and photographer Craig McDean invited friends and colleagues to celebrate the release of a new book . Such a number of fashion insiders is difficult to see even on the most high-profile events : designers , models ,chief editors of major publications, as well as movie stars have gathered in 1728 restaurant located in the Hôtel Mazin La Fayette, to congratulate the photographer for the book.
“The book is [about] the time when I first started my career, and there were three girls whom I photographed more than anything else [Amber Valletta, Guinevere van Seenus and Kate Moss]. I did the book from 1993 to 2005, and I stopped the book when I had digital photography. There is a period of time I spent with such wonderful people, like Marc Ascoli, M/M. It was a different way of working. I wanted to focus on these three girls. They were so giving in their way,” Craig McDean told WWD.
He added: “It’s the first fashion book I ever published. I swore I would never publish a fashion book, but I did.”
The book “Amber, Guinevere and Kate photographed by Craig McDean 1993-2005.” created with the support of the New York publishing house Rizzoli, tells the story of the early career of Craig . Then, for him , there were only three girls he liked to photograph the most: Amber Valletta , Guinevere Van Seenus and Kate Moss.
